B.S. Dietetics

My inspiration to pursue a career as a Registered Dietitian is the culmination and reflection of my own personal journey through nutrition in which I witnessed an evolution of food sourcing and quality during my childhood and my own personal health issues. I have deeply rooted memories of spending much of my childhood helping my parents cook, and I was fortunate to grow up in a household eating meals as a family around the table. As my mother learned more about nutrition herself, our dietary habits shifted from processed, canned foods to simpler, whole foods. I remember at the time, without realizing the root cause, a subtle yet significant increase in the quality of my life, spirit, and energy.

Despite graduating my childhood with a strong foundation in nutrition, I struggled in my adult life with gastrointestinal issues. Feeling helpless and often lost in my own discomfort, with the help of a specialized care team, I finally found respite through whole food therapies and functional nutrition. Through my struggles, I unearthed a community of patients blindly handicapped much in the same way as I was, not knowing where to turn or the source of the problem. As I turned the corner on my own health complications, I felt compelled to give back and help right the ship for others.

Combining evidence-based nutrition through an integrative and functional lens addresses the root cause of disease and provides a holistic, personalized approach to promote healing and protection against chronic disease. I believe there’s space for all foods and our decision to eat food should come from a place of nourishment rather than boredom, mindlessness, or distraction.
