Meet Anne

Fighting for my future self!

Like many of us, COVID brought many changes for me and my family.

COVID coincided with becoming an empty nester.

Shortly after that, weird symptoms brought me to the doctor.  I was stunned when I was diagnosed with early stage Parkinson’s disease in May 2020.  There is no cure.

I walked through the door at Inspired because people with Parkinson’s who exercise hard do better.  It’s the most powerful medicine we have at the moment. So I show up to the gym every day it is open (and sometimes twice a day) to fight for my future self.

The beginning was hard. But Jenn was really there for me, showing me what to do and watching to learn my body’s quirks. She helped me overcome being self conscious.  I may have terrible balance and a tremor, but so what?  I do yoga anyway.

I turn 60 in November.  I’ve belonged to countless gyms that lacked a soul. The goal was to hop around and look good. To me, Inspired Fitness is more than a gym. It’s a community of people who care about wellness.  I’ve learned that challenging yourself physically helps you live a better life.

Jenn always ends class by saying ‘Be grateful for the health that allows you to get your ass kicked’.

I affectionately refer to you all as ‘the normals’ because you are blessed with bodies that will work well for many years to come.  I’m probably not in that camp but I am grateful to be the bad ass disabled person in the back of class
